Silver open faced Jacquemarts watch

A fine and rare French silver quarter repeating pocket watch with automaton Jaquemarts, circa 1820. Gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, nicely pierced and engraved balance cock with polished steel coqueret, silver regulation disc with brass indicator, plain brass three-arm balance with flat balance spring.
Silver dial, engine-turned, with radial Roman numerals on a small chapter ring, varicoloured gold and painted blackamoor jacks to each side appearing to strike two bells above, grassy base with two recumbent dogs. Blued steel Breguet hands.  Engine-turned band. Repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant, locking device to two o’clock to avoid accidental release.
