Christian Heinrich Laehne, German watchmaker
Christian Heinrich Lähne worked as a watchmaker in Leipzig. He was probably David Christian Lähne’s brother and a watchmaker in Leipzig. In 1792, he repaired the clock in Leipzig’s town hall and converted it in 1804 to allow for a donation. Christian Heinrich Lähne Lähne died before 1814; his wife continued the business as CH Lähne’s widow. The successor in the company was Louis Bethmann. This was most likely married to a daughter of Lähne. The Saxon State Archive shows a debt claim by the heirs of the watchmaker Christian Heinrich Lähne in Leipzig for 120 talers to Johann August von Lüdecke in Oderwitz. The shop was located in Hainstrasse, 1825the company moved from No. 199 to No. 196 on the first floor closer to the market. It was next to the Cafe Francais.

In 1849, the company was still active, and an advertisement appeared in the Deutsche Universitäts-Zeitung: Central organ for the overall interests of German universities, Volume 1, published by Verlag Hermann Bethmann. The company also appears in the New Leipzig Address Book 1851, Wilh.Jul. Bethmann was a watchmaker in the CH Lähne widow. His brother Otto Bethmann worked as an authorized officer. The brothers were registered at Bahnhofstrasse 3.
