A fine and rare Swiss gold hunting cased minute repeating Carillon watch, circa 1890, manual winding gilt lever movement Swiss patent 11948, highly jeweled some carried in gold screwed chatons, cut bimetallic compensation balance, four polished hammers repeating on three gongs, 18k pink gold engraved cuvette: répétition à minute carillon, ancre, 32 rubis, chatons spiral Breguet, balancier compensateur, double plateau levées visibles, Perret & Berthoud Le Locle.
White enamel dial, Breguet numerals, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands.
18K Pink gold polished hunter case, gilt crown and ring, case and dial signed.

Perret and Berthoud was the company of Ulysse Georges Perret and Louis Edouard Berthoud. In 1894, Perret founded together with Numa-Emile Descombes at Le Locle an etablissage workshop and a watch trade. a collaboration that only lasted until Descambes’ surprising death at 34 in 1897. Perret then hired Louis Edouard Berthoud as a specialist for complicated watches. Only for a short time they signed their watches with Perret & Berthoud, before returning to the name Universal Watch again in Geneva.
