A Swiss gilt metal, enamel and pearl set open faced center seconds watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1850. Gilt ‘Chinese calibre’ cylinder movement finely engraved with scrollwork. White enamel dial, Roman numerals and sweep center seconds. Gilt metal case, enamel portrait of a maiden with a floral garland upon her head, over a guilloché ground overlaid with red enamel, bezel and bow set with seed pearls. Dial and case signed, case numbered.
