A Swiss gold, enamel and split pearl center seconds open faced pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Gilt ‘Chinese Caliber’ movement, with duplex escapement, bridges engraved overall with scrolls, large bi metallic compensation balance, with blued steel winged weights. Glazed cuvette. White enamel dial, Roman numerals and center seconds. The back polychrome enamelled with a burst of summer flowers against a periwinkle blue enamel ground, similarly enamelled band. With a gold and enamel key, the panel enamelled on both sides with flowers en suite.
