A very fine gold and enamel lépine watch with painting, made by the Courvoisier Fréres in la Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, circa 1840. The open faced case of this watch which is crafted from 18 carat gold has a coined band and a deep blue enamel back adorned with golden leaves and a gold framed cartouche, which has a painting of swans gliding across a lake under a soft pink and sunlit sky. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals and Breguet steel hands and the movement has a cylinder escapement, eight rubies and key winding.
The cuvette is numbered and signed.
