A rare Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased minute repeating automaton representing a bullfight made for the Spanish market, circa 1890. Highly jeweled nickel lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, slide repeat. Gold cuvette engraved with details of the movement. White enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals centered by an automaton bullfight scene with figures of a polychrome enamel Matador in full dress fighting a raging bull in unison with the repeating work on translucent midnight blue enamel ground over engine turning, subsidiary seconds below. The case engraved overall with leafage surrounding an oval medallion, the reverse similarly engraved. Case, dial, cuvette, and movement signed.
