Dobbie
The company was originally founded in 1841 by Alexander Dobbie. He was not only a maker of excellent chronometers himself, but also the Scottish branch of the famous London chronometer maker Barraud. Dobbie, chronometer maker to the admiralty, was obviously well known and highly regarded in shipping circles.
