A slim French 18 carat gold and enamel open faced cylinder watch, circa 1790, full plate gilt cylinder movement, movement with engraved backplate and polished steel coqueret.
White enamel dial, black Roman numerals and Arabic outer, decorative gilt hands. The back with a polychrome enamel scene and beautiful blue translucent enamel (beautiful glow) and applied decoration with the diamond-set words ‘Gage D’amitie’ which means ‘pledge of friendship’. The front bezel opens by depressing the button in the gold pendant. Dial signed.
