Presentation watch of the King of Saudi Arabia
–
A historically interesting gold full hunter cased presentation watch of the King of Saudi Arabia, made in Switzerland, circa 1930. The very beautiful Art Deco hunting cased watch was crafted from 14 carat gold, has pinstripe decoration on both the front and the back lid, an empty cartouche on the back lid and a relief rim. The spring lid has a dedication on the inside: To General Patrick Hurley from King Ibn Saud and the cuvette is marked Ancre de Precision and the Medaille d’Or – Berne 1914. The gilt dial is marked with the signature of the Arab royal family, has Arabic 24 hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and gold hands. The movement has a Swiss precision lever escapement.
