Gold full hunter with lever escapement

A Swiss 18 carat pink gold hunting cased quarter repeating keyless pocket watch with chronograph, circa 1890. Engine turned covers with polished borders and polished bands. Hinged gold cuvette with engine turned border. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost chronograph track divided into fifths of a second and blued steel spade hands. Rhodium plated movement, wavy line decoration, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with screws, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, visible chronograph work, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed.

Huguenin & Fils was founded in the mid 19th century in Le Locle Switzerland by Adolphe Huguenin. They exhibited watches and chronometers at the International Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876. The firm registered its name in 1880 as required by the 1879 law with the trademark A. Huguenin & Sons, Locle and for chronometers A. Huguenin & Fils.
