Gold precision watch with original papers and test certificate
–
A half hunting cased rare five minute repeating pocket watch with papers and test certificate in the original presentation box made for Spaulding & Co. in Chicago, U.S.A. by Patek, Philippe & Co in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1899. The numbered case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and has a coat of arms with the motto Go on and take care on the back lid. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and original blued steel double spade hands. The numbered, excellent quality movement is fitted with a precision lever escapement, large balance wheel, wolf’s toothing, Geneva striping decoration and repeats the five minutes.
The dial is signed by the watchmaker, the cuvette by the retailer, and the movement by the retailer and watchmaker.

Spaulding & Co.
Spaulding & Co. was a prominent luxury jewellery and silverware retailer in Chicago with a history spanning over a century. It was known as the leading jewellery house of the West and even maintained a branch in Paris. The company eventually ceased independent operations in 1989. Founder Henry A.
