Order of the Garter
The Order of the Garter (officially named The Most Noble Order of the Garter) is the oldest and most senior order of knighthood in the British honours system. Founded by King Edward III in 1348, it was inspired by legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Today, it remains a highly prestigious personal award presented by the British monarch to recognise exceptional public service and national achievement.

“Striking” Roman Numerals
In pocket watchmaking, “Striking” Roman Numerals typically refer to the watchmaker’s four (IIII instead of IV), the radially oriented display, and the historical use of additive only notation to preserve visual symmetry across the dial. These stylistic and historical conventions have carried over from pocket watches into modern classical and luxury timepieces.
