Gold open faced ladies’ pocket watch

A very rare gold Louis XV pocket watch made for the retailer Peret & Neveu in Clermont-Ferrand by Patek Philippe in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1880. The numbered open faced case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and has a monogram on the engine turned back lid, its cuvette is signed Peret & Neveu Clermont-Ferrand. The fine white enamel dial has blue Roman hours with alternating half hour markers, an outer minute ring with gold Arabic five minute numerals and gold Louis XV hands. The numbered movement is fitted with a cylinder escapement and wolf’s toothing.
Case, movement and cuvette have matching numbers and are signed.
