Gold Observatory deck chronometer

An extremely rare Observatory deck chronometer made by Patek, Philippe in Genève, Switzerland for J. Maury, Relojoeiro do Observatório de Marinha (Watchmaker of the Marine Observatory) in Lisbon, Portugal, circa 1895. The numbered open faced case of this watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, bears the Patek Philippe punch, has an engine turned back lid with a vacant cartouche and a numbered cuvette signed by the watchmaker and retailer. The dial has white enamelled cartouches with black Arabic hour numerals alternated with engraved decoration, outer minute divisions on a white enamel chapter ring, an engine turned center and steel moon hands. The numbered and signed movement has a chronometer quality escapement, special fine adjusting device, moustache lever and wolf’s toothing.
