Gold open faced cylinder watch

A fine Swiss, 18K gold, ramolayé and painted on enamel lady’s pendant watch, circa 1840. The case with shaped edges, the bezel is decorated with black champlevé enamel and engraved gold flowers and foliage, the back cover is painted on enamel with four flower sprays, gold ramolayé flowers between, translucent red guilloche enamel ground, outer border to match the bezel. Hinged gold cuvette. Silver dial, engine turned with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, central engraved foliate decoration. Blued steel spade hands. A matte gilt movement, Lepine calibre, jewelled cylinder escapement, plain three arm gilt balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed.
