Antide Janvier (* 1 July 1751 in Briva, Lavans-lès-Saint-Claude; † 23 September 1835 in Paris) was a French watchmaker and author. He quickly gained reputation as a manufacturer of complicated and difficult clocks of the highest quality, including many pendulums, globes, astronomical clocks, spheres and planetariums, for which he invented new types of gears and designs. In 1775 and 1784 he stayed in Paris and Versailles to present his works to the kings Louis XV and Louis XVI. During the French Revolution he spent a lot of time in prison because of his royal connections. Later he got into financial difficulties because many of his works were not paid. He died in Paris in 1835.
