Gold hunting cased keyless repeating lever watch
–
A fine and heavy Swiss 18 carat yellow gold full hunter pocket watch with a minute repeating complication, retailed by Bandera, circa 1900-1910. It has a high grade mechanical crown winding gilded movement with a lever escapement, compensation balance wheel, and an integrated minute repeating mechanism that strikes the hours, quarters, and minutes on internal steel gongs, activated by a slide mechanism on the caseband. The white enamel dial, signed Bandera, features black Arabic numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel pear shaped hands.
–
The timepiece is housed in a substantial round three body, 18 carat solid yellow gold full hunter case featuring fine engine turned decoration across both covers, a fluted winding crown, an integrated repeater slide on the caseband, a sturdy suspension bow, and a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette.

–
Bandera was a well known manufacturer of Swiss watches active at the beginning of the 20th century.
–
Pocket watches with a minute repeating function reached the peak of acoustic complexity in Swiss watchmaking, designed to chime the exact hour, quarter hours, and remaining minutes on request, using small hammers that struck tuned steel gongs inside the watch. This watch, set in a heavy 53 mm solid 18 carat gold guilloché hunting case, is an excellent example of the complicated horology produced in Switzerland at the turn of the century.

Signed: Bandera
