Gold open faced lever pocket watch

A very fine and rare Swiss,  18K gold minute repeating dress watch, circa 1902. Made for Tilden Thurber Co., Providence, in 1902, sold on May 11th, 1903 and accompanied by the original fitted box, spare crystal and the Extract from the Archives. A polished case concealed hinge. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial dauphine numerals, outer minute track, red-painted Arabic five minute/seconds numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XV hands.

A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 31 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial, case and movement signed, cuvette and movement signed by the retailer.
