A fine and rare Swiss 18K gold and enamel hunting cased keyless lever pocket watch decorated with the shields of the 22 Swiss Cantons, circa 1890. The band and bezels are engraved with geometric patterns, the hinged and sprung front cover decorated with the painted on enamel Swiss arms surmounted by William Tell‘s hat and surrounded by the champlevé enamel shields of 22 Cantons of Switzerland within an engraved foliate border, on the back an oval polychrome enamel vignette depicting the classical figure of Helvetia in an alpine landscape within an engraved foliate, scroll and trophy border.

Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, blued steel spade hands. A frosted gilt movement, bar calibre, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed.
