A decorative Swiss 18K gold, enamel and diamond-set hunting cased lever pocket watch made for the Ottoman market with a matching pearl-set gold watch chain, circa 1890. Gilt frosted 4/5 plate movement, screwed gold chatons, side lever escapement, gold screwed compensation balance. Gold cuvette with enamelled decor. White enamel dial with radial Ottoman numerals, auxiliary seconds and blued spade hands. Engine-turned case, translucent red and green enamel framed by an opaque black and white enamelled band, the front decorated with a diamond-set stylized flower head, the back with a polychrome miniature painting in the centre depicting military instruments, the Turkish flag with crescent moon and star, the band engraved with a geometrical pattern.
