Impressive gold double-dialled pocket watch

A very fine Swiss, impressive and rare, 18K gold, open cased, keyless, astronomical double-dialled pocket watch, circa 1890. With calendar and phases of the moon, were made for the South American market. A heavy case, reeded band, hinged bezels on both sides with correctors underneath the bezel for the calendar. Silver dial, radial Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, centre and outermost track with applied varicoloured gold matte floral motifs. Blued steel cathedral hands.

The second dial is silver, with two subsidiary dials for days of the week and months, phases of the moon aperture at 12, and the outermost Arabic date scale. A nickel-silver movement, damascened with a radial pattern, 17 jewels, finished calendar plate, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring. Both dials are signed, movement double signed.
