An important, heavy and complex Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased grande sonnerie minute repeating pocket watch with a carillon made by Schwob Frères in La Chaux-de-Fonds, circa 1895. An engine turned case with plain bezels, pendant and bow. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. Glazed movement with a very rare and fine caliber, the main plate engraved with Louis Brandt & Frère’s patent number, tandem winding, a precision lever movement with screwed gold chatons, grande sonnerie self striking carillon with three hammers and a minute repeater with three hammers.

This full hunter cased pocket watch is a Swiss watchmaking masterpiece. Between 1895 and 1900, the carillon movement, based on patent No. 7832 from Louis Brandt & Frère SA in La Chaux-de-Fonds, was used by important watchmakers like Louis Elisée Piguet, H. Barbezat-Bole, Louis Audemars and Schwob Frères to make grande sonnerie timepieces.
