A fine, 18K gold, hunting cased, keyless, minute repeating pocket watch with a 24-hour dial by Fréderic Sagne, Chaux de Fonds, circa 1890. Four-body, bassine et filets, polished, the covers with an engine-turned and engraved repeat pattern border. Hinged gold cuvette, glazed gold-rimmed cover for viewing the movement. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and red-painted Arabic five minute numerals, inner red-painted 24-hour numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XV hands. Nickel-plated movement, wavy line decoration, 29 jewels, some in gold screwed chatons, wolf’s tooth winding, gold train, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band. Signed on the front plate.
