Silver Art Deco purse watch

A fine and rare lacquered silver keyless Art Deco purse watch designed in the form of a matchbox made by Longines in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, circa 1930. Accompanied by the original fitted folding case forming a desk stand. The two-piece, rectangular case is fitted with a spring loaded watch released by sliding the top of the case. It is black lacquer and decorated with a red triangle on each side, and a further band of white mosaic around the top. The two tone matte silver dial has luminous Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and luminous blued steel cathedral hands. The rhodium plated movement is decorated with Geneva striping, has 15 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator.
Dial and movement are signed.
