A very fine Swiss, 18K gold, half hunting cased, keyless pocket chronometer with pivoted detent escapement, circa 1890. A polished case, spring-loaded front cover with glazed aperture, black enamel radial Roman chapter ring, inner minute track. Hinged gold cuvette, glazed gold-rimmed cover to view the movement. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, sunray and oeil-de-perdrix decoration, 17 jewels, four in chatons, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral timing screws, blued steel helical balance spring, index regulator. Movement numbered. Property of an Italian Collector.
