A very fine and rare Swiss silver and gold pocket watch, circa 1920. With split-seconds chronograph and progressive 30-minute register. A polished case, curved bezel, gold button at 11 for the split-seconds, co-axial button in the crown for start/stop and return-to-zero of the chronograph, snap-on back with gold thumb-piece. White enamel dial with bold radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five-minute numerals, outermost fifths of a second division, subsidiary dials for the seconds and the progressive 30-minute register and blued steel Breguet hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 31 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, index regulator, visible steel chronograph work. Movement signed, case numbered.

Split-seconds dress watches by the European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. are extremely rare and were made in very small numbers in the early 1920s, most of those were made for Cartier and indeed the present watch quite naturally has the appearance of a Cartier watch.
