A very fine Swiss gilt silver and painted enamel pocket watch, The Peacock, with center seconds, circa 1870. Made for the Chinese market. Mirror polished and blued steel movement, Chinese calibre, free standing barrel, Jacot duplex escapement, blued steel flat balance, spring, index regulator. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes/seconds track, Arabic fifteen minutes/seconds numerals, center seconds, and original blued hands. Empire shaped gilt silver case, the back enamel panel finely painted with a peacock, the bezels and pendant with enamel and reeded band.
