Silver gilt watch with centre seconds

A fine Swiss silver gilt and enamel, pearl set open faced center seconds pocket watch with lever escapement made for the Chinese market, circa 1870. Summer Bouquet by Bovet. An Empire case, the back enamel panel finely painted with a bouquet of summer flowers over a pale blue ground, the bezels, pendant and bow set with split pearls. Gilt rimmed glazed cuvette hinged to the movement ring.

White enamel dial with narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions with Arabic fifteen minute numerals, blued steel ovoid hands. A gilt brass movement, Chinese caliber with a freestanding barrel, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, bi metallic compensation balance with temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator.
Dial and movement signed, case signed in Chinese characters.
