Enamelled gold keyless ladies’ watch

A very fine and unusual hunting cased keyless pendant watch accompanied by a key made by Vacheron in Geneva, circa 1890. The polished case, crafted from 18 carat gold, has a hinged and sprung front cover with the polychrome enamel portrait of a lady set with six single cut diamonds and an engraved scroll border, and the back cover is decorated with a finely painted on enamel musical scene enhanced with flowers,
a further hinged cuvette. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gold Louis XIV hands. The nickel plated movement is fitted with 15 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator.
