A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced key wind pocket watch made by Leroy & Fils in Paris, circa 1850. An engine turned case with plain pendant and bow. White and bistre coloured enamel face, a small dial at 6 o’clock with radial Roman hours, outer dot minute divisions, Arabic five minute numerals and yellow gold Breguet hands, signed J.B. Grateloup Pingebat 1784, and, in the upper part, a scene showing six cupids (damaged and restored at 12 o’clock). Gilded brass movement with a going barrel, cylinder escapement, gilt brass monometallic balance, blued steel flat hairspring and polished steel index regulator. A signature on the cuvette.
