A fine and very rare, small Swiss, minute repeating, hunting cased, keyless, 18K gold pocket watch, circa 1890. A polished case, the front cover engraved with monogram AB, the back cover with engraved coat of arms, crest and motto Deus Amici et Nos (God, Our Friends, and Ourselves). Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer gold dot minute divisions and blue Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gilt Louis hands. A rhodium-plated movement, 29 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band.
