Enamelled gold diamond set scarab shaped watch

A very fine and rare Swiss yellow gold, enamel and diamond set manual wound pendant form watch designed as a scarab, circa 1890. The movement with a cylinder escapement and three arm brass balance. Small, concealed white enamel dial with blue Arabic hour numerals, a red 12, outer gold dot minute track and spade hands. Case in the shape of a scarab, the spring loaded wings decorated with translucent green enamel over an engine turned ground studded with old cut diamonds, a champlevé style neck set with diamonds, the diamond set head and hinged belly realistically chased and engraved, the eyes represented by two cut rubies.
