A very fine and rare Swiss gold keyless winding minute repeating pocket watch, circa 1880-1885.
Nickel plated movement with going barrel, gold screwed chatons (setting), straight line equilibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold and platinum poising screws, blued steel hairspring with a terminal curve, and an index regulator. White enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, original blued steel Breguet hands, and one horological complication: Minute repeater on two steel gongs (activated by the slide at 6 o’clock). Round-shaped 18 Carat yellow gold case, case back engraved in taille douce (fine cut) with a cypher, cover engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with the cypher W. H. B., inside the cover, the mention Dr W. H. Buchtel / from his wife / Geneva, Aug. 15th 1888, and glazed cuvette (dome). Dial, case and movement signed.
