A very complicated pocket watch from the 19th century with a minute repeater and archive information made by  Ulysse Nardin SA in Le Locle, Switzerland, circa 1885. This watch features an 18 carat gold numbered case with engine turned decoration on both sides and an empty cartouche on the back. The numbered cuvette is marked “Grand Prix de Paris 1889” and the watch features an intricate, multi dial white watch face set within a gold casing, showcasing an outer chronograph track, elegant Roman hour numerals, dials for the perpetual calendar, a moon phase and age indicator combined with a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and the original hands. The numbered 1889 Ulysse Nardin, glazed, probably Victorin Piguet caliber is a masterpiece of Swiss watchmaking and is equipped with an anchor lever escapement and nine complications: a perpetual calendar, moon phase and moon age, a minute repeater and a chronograph rattrapante (split seconds chronograph).
The case, cuvette and movement bear matching numbers and the dial and cuvette are signed,

It is likely one of only three examples of this watch that Ulysse Nardin produced and sold during the 19th century. According to archival records, it was probably exhibited at the 1889 Paris World’s Fair, where it received an award, before being sold in 1892. The archive also records two sister watches of the same model, both likewise listed as having been sold in 1892.
