Gold heavy watch with spherical hairspring
–
A very fine chronometer pocket watch in its original presentation box made by Girard-Perregaux in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, circa 1885. The numbered case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold, has a coined band, a monogram in a star shaped cartouche in the center of the front lid and is engine turned on both sides. The white enamel dial features Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and very fine blued Fleur de Lys hands. The numbered, unusual movement is fitted with a chronometer balance, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, spherical hairspring, a diamond end stone, screwed gold chatons, chain and fusee and is key wound.
The presentation box, dial and movement are signed.
