Fine gold “Superior Adjustment” pocket watch

A very fine Swiss 18K yellow gold “Superior Adjustment” minute repeating keyless pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph and register, circa 1915. Movement with 40 jewels, some with screwed gold chatons, counter poised and calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator, repeating on two gongs activated by a slide in the band. Split seconds chronograph function operated through a button in the band and through the pendant.
White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute track with fifth of a second indexes and red painted Arabic five minute/second numerals, subsidiary seconds and 30-minute register dials.
Polished case. DDial and movement signed, case numbered.

Charles Henry Meylan. The C. H. Meylan Watch & Co. was founded in Le Brassus in 1880. Charles Henry Meylan was an eminent watchmaker, well known both in the United States and in Switzerland. In 1894, he was awarded the “Premier prix de réglage de l’Observatoire de Genève”. He made high quality watches with complications, flat and extra flat watches and chronometers.
