A fine Swiss pink gold open faced keyless watch, made in 1883, retailed by N. Madson & Co Chicago. Silver-nickel lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral timing screws and blued Breguet balance with terminal curb, wolf’s tooth winding mechanism, long lateral index to adjust the regulation on the train bridge, 18k pink gold engraved cuvette.
White enamel dial, Breguet numerals, subsidiary dial for the constant seconds, outer minute track 5 minute indication in red, 18k pink gold bassine open faced case, snap-on back, cuvette and movement signed by the maker, cuvette and dial signed by the retailer.
