A very fine and rare, Swiss, manual wind, split-second chronograph with minute-repeater, circa 1890.
The polished 18-carat yellow gold case has a rectangular pusher on the band for the split-seconds function and a hinged gold cuvette. The dial is white enamel with radial Arabic numerals, outer minutes track with red Arabic five minutes numerals, a subsidiary dial for the seconds, split-seconds chronograph hands, and blued spade hands. And the rhodium-plated movement has a swan-neck micrometric regulator, Geneva striping decoration with 23 jewels, straight-line counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, and repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Case, dial and movement signed.
