Silver centre-seconds pocket watch

A very fine Swiss silver and painted-on enamel centre-second pocket watch, circa 1860. Made for the Chinese market. Chinese, spring-loaded back finely painted on enamel depicting a noble young woman, red guilloché background, the front bezel set with pearls, the back with engraved champlevé enamel pattern. Silver cuvette hinged to the movement ring. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic numerals and brass spade hands. A gilt brass movement, fully engraved Chinese calibre, escapement jewelled, free-standing barrel, counterpoised lateral lever escapement, two-arm brass balance with flat rim, flat steel balance spring, index regulator. Case signed.
