–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold hunting cased quarter repeating pocket watch with hidden erotic automaton, made in the early 20th century. This watch features a hand wound mechanical movement with lever escapement, monometallic balance spring, and an hour and quarter repeating striking mechanism with two hammers on a gong. The white enamel dial displays stylised Arabic numerals for the hours, a minute track, stylised hands, and a small seconds hand. The round 18 carat yellow gold case features a hinged back. The numbered gold cuvette conceals a polychrome enamel erotic automaton depicting a soldier and a village girl on a hay wagon, with a small house in the background.

Erotic watches or polissonne watches became popular in Europe starting in the 18th century. They are notable for their concealed automaton mechanisms displaying erotic scenes. Designed for an affluent clientele, these timepieces were used discreetly. Technically, erotic watches with automaton mechanisms showcase watchmakers’ craftsmanship.
