Gold hunting cased pocket watch
–
A fine and rare French 18 Carat gold, quarter repeating, two train, hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1860. With independent deadbeat centre seconds, early keyless winding without coasting and an 18 Carat gold marine-link chain. The front cover engraved with a monogram, slide at 11 o’clock for the centre seconds start/stop. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the technical details.

White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute seconds track and Arabic five minute seconds numerals. Gold spade hour and minute hands, blued steel centre seconds hand. Frosted gilt movement, two train, tandem winding, 49 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed.
