Rose gold minute repeating lever

A fine and very rare Swiss, 14K rose gold, hunting cased, keyless pocket watch, circa 1890. Made for the Russian market. Two-train, Grande Sonnerie striking and trip minute repeating with three hammers on three gongs. Engine-turned with polished borders. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Gold spade hands.

A frosted gilt movement, double train with differential winding, 30 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, index regulator, striking the hours and quarters on three gongs with three stacked hammers, Silence/ Sonnerie selection lever on the bezel border, repeating activated by a push-piece in the band. Dial and cuvette signed in Cyrillic.

This type of minute repeating Grande Sonnerie clockwatch movement with three gongs with three stacked hammers but without Petite Sonnerie, were usually made by Zenith and followed César Racine’s Swiss patent number 18543 (for grande sonnerie).
