Gold hunting cased lever watch
–
A heavy hunting cased anker chronometer made by Favre & Andrié in Le Locle, Switzerland, circa 1865-1870. The watch’s case, made of 18 carat gold, features engine turning on both sides and has coin edged detailing. The cuvette is numbered, has a decorative engraving and is marked First Quality.

The white enamel dial boasts Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and elegant stell moon hands. The movement of this timepiece is truly exceptional, featuring a lever escapement, large chronometer balance, Louis Audemars’ bishop’s anker, solid gold escape wheels, gold chatons, a winding wheel with wolf’s teeth and Geneva striping decoration.

The dial and cuvette are both signed, adding to the watch’s authenticity and value.

Favre & Andrié
Favre & Andrié was a Swiss watchmaking company founded in Le Locle in 1852 by Henri-Frédéric Favre and Auguste-Louis Andrié. The company specialized in the production of high quality pocket watches and became renowned for its precision and craftsmanship.

Favre & Andrie’s involvement in the watchmaking industry continued throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with the company producing a wide range of timepieces, including chronometers, repeaters and complicated watches.

The company also established a reputation for innovation, with notable contributions to the development of the chronograph and tourbillon. In 1926, Favre & Andrié merged with another Swiss watchmaking company, Schwob Frères, to form Les Fils de Favre & Frères S.A. The new company continued to produce high quality watches under the Favre-Leuba brand, which became known for its innovative designs and technical achievements.

Today, Favre-Leuba is one of the oldest surviving Swiss watch brands, with a rich history of innovation and excellence in watchmaking.
