Rare open faced pocket watch by Vacheron & Constantin

A Swiss very fine and rare lapis lazuli watch mounted in 18k gold and enamel, circa 1925.
Case made from a solid piece of lapis lazuli, with cream enamel gold bezel and gold Roman hours, gold band ring, gold pendant and sapphire-set winding crown. Two-toned and silvered dial with hour ring outside on gold bezel, inner minute divisions, gold “Cathedral” hands and signed “Vacheron & Constantin Genève“. Rhodium plated movement with 8 adj., 18 jewels and a lever escapement with compensation balance adjusted with gold screws.

The case was made probably by Verger Freres who made a number of lapis lazuli cases for Vacheron Constantin, mostly for their clocks but at least one other is known to have been made for a watch, No. 402866, delivered in 1927.
