Pocket watch with splendidly engraved noble coat of arms

A rare early Louis XV pocket watch from aristocratic ownership, made by Vacheron & Constantin in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1890. The open faced numbered case of this watch was crafted from 18 Carat gold, has a back lid which is splendidly engraved with a noble coat of arms with banner “Fortis simul et prudens” (Strong and wise at the same time), a cuvette inscribed with a monogram MB and a noble crown with 9 prongs (count). The white enamel Louis XV dial has black Arabic minute and black Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial with black Arabic numerals at six o’clock and pink gold hands. The numbered movement has an anker chronometer with an especially large balance and wolf’s toothing. Dial and movement signed.
