A very fine Swiss gilt, painted-on enamel and pearl-set centre-seconds pocket watch, circa 1880. Made for the Chinese market. An Empire case, the back painted-on enamel with a large bouquet, pearl-set bezels, pendant and bow. White enamel dial, narrow radial Roman numerals, centre seconds, outer minute divisions and blued steel Breguet hands. A gilt Chinese calibre movement, free-standing barrel, cylinder escapement, three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, and an index regulator. Case signed Bovet in Chinese characters, dial signed Bovet Fleurier.
