Gold and enamel keyless pocket watch with split seconds chronograph

A fine 18 Carat yellow gold and enamel keyless pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph. Made in Switzerland for Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co., Philadelphia, USA, circa 1890. Four body, bassine and polished case its back cover is decorated in black champlevé enamel with an equestrian trophy, co-axial crown for start stop and return to zero functions of the chronograph, button in the band at 11 o’clock for the split seconds and a hinged gold cuvette with photographic transfer portrait of a lady.
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minutes and concentric fifths of a second divisions with red Arabic five-second numerals, subsidiary seconds and gold Louis XVI hands. Rhodium-plated movement with Geneva striping decoration, 21 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and a swan neck micrometre regulator.
Dial and movement signed by the retailer, cuvette and movement stamped ‘Swiss’.
