Gold anker chronometer
–
A Swiss 18 carat two tone gold open faced tuxedo dress watch made by Vacheron Constantin in Geneva, dating from the Art Deco period, circa 1930. This pocket watch features a refined, rhodium plated mechanical movement with manual winding, an anker escapement and a bimetallic compensation balance with timing screws, numbered on the main plate. The bridges are finished with Geneva striping and a perlage finish on the base plate. The movement includes a micrometric fine adjustment regulator for chronometer precision with a graduated index scale and R/A (Retard/Avance) indicators, a gold train wheel system and high grade ruby jewels. The silvered dial displays black enamelled Arabic numeral hour markers, an outer minute track, a sunken subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and openwork blued steel cathedral hands.
–
The slim, flat 18 carat yellow and white gold case features a polished two tone structure with a press stud back. The interior of the 18 carat gold case back is stamped with the official Vacheron Constantin Maltese Cross emblem, the 18K purity hallmark, Swiss gold assay marks, and the unique manufacturer case serial number. The case is fitted with a yellow gold oval bow ring on a cylindrical stem and is preserved in its original period leather pouch.
