A French gold technically interesting open faced early observation pocket watch with second-time zone and stoppable, independent jumping centre seconds “Seconde Morte”, circa 1860. Bridge movement, key wind, two barrels, club-tooth lever escapement with crozier-shaped lever, screw cut bimetallic compensation balance.
Engine-turned 18 carat gold case with ribbed middle, gold cuvette signed Seconde Independante Retour heure Cadrant Observation.
Beautifully preserved white enamel dial, display of two-time zones with Roman chapter rings indicating the local time and Parisian time and stoppable, independent jumping centre seconds “Seconde Morte”. Dial signed.
